THE FUTURE IS THE PAST

One of the TV channels in the UK has been showing ‘stuff’ in 3D. A major supermarket has been giving away the glasses needed.

Last Sunday I eventually got round to getting some but they had run out. I was going to leave it at that but  having settled down in front of the telly after a splendid lunch I then decided to rise to the challenge and create my own 3D specs using an old pair of reading glasses.

3D glasses - in a way

I had a blue felt tip pen that worked well but the red pen was missing from the set. Having tried red sauce and beetroot juice and the skin of a tomato  to colour the other lens, none of which worked (you’re forgetting the redcurrant jelly with added port – no good, the port makes it too brown. Lo,TG Ed) , I popped out to a local shop just before it closed and bought a small Christmas pudding that was wrapped in red cellophane ……. brilliant!

I finished my creation and tried them out.

Rubbish.

Nothing.

No re-creation of my childhood.

There were a couple of upsides though. There’s a tiny Christmas pudding to be eaten and the looks I received from Tiggz, who had popped round for lunch, were a joy to behold.

Lo, she is a terrible Goddess just looked resigned.

(Unlike most of the drivel you’re subjected to here, this is the literal truth. I need a quiet little South

sea island urgently. Anybody got one I can borrow? Lo,TG Ed)

Will there be a youtube video of this event? Just wondering… I’d like to know if I should stock up on popcorn (or perhaps some incontinence pads in anticipation of whatever poor Tiggz went through…)

You should only ever look at stuff through rose coloured glasses.

A maligned brand – it’s actually quite nice. Keeping on the 3D theme, I can’t say the same for Blue Nun though ….

I’ve been watching these 3D films etc on Ch4 the last week, they’re not a patch of the new 3D in the cinema which is awesome, but I must say your attempt at reconstructing some 3D shades is brilliant, get a video of them on youtube and you’ll be famous, oh! you already are famous ;)

    daddyp replied:

I’m very pleased to hear that “they’re not a patch”. My glasses were complete and total rubbish …… [nothing new there then]

Maybe you had them on upside down….

PS Didn’t 3D specs used to be green and red?

    daddyp replied:

Indeed they did …… [note to self - make no mention of age ...... goddesses find it very upsetting]
