SALLE D’ATTENTE

We all know that a lot of life is spent waiting. I had a little Google to see what other people had said …..

I took a course in speed waiting. Now I can wait an hour in only ten minutes.  – Steven Wright

My whole life is waiting for the questions to which I have prepared answers.  – Tom Stoppard

A chuckle a day may not keep the doctor away, but it sure does make those times in life’s waiting room a little more bearable.  – Anne Wilson Schaef

You can’t stay in your corner of the forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes.  – A. A. Milne

Waiting, waiting, waiting. All my life, I’ve been waiting for my life to begin, as if somehow my life was ahead of me, and that someday I would arrive at it.  – Camryn Manheim

Do not hold grain waiting for higher prices when people are hungry  – Zoroaster

Light thinks it travels faster than anything but it is wrong. No matter how fast light travels, it finds the darkness has always got there first, and is waiting for it.  – Terry Pratchett

Waiting for the fish to bite or waiting for wind to fly a kite. Or waiting around for Friday night or waiting perhaps for their Uncle Jake or a pot to boil or a better break or a string of pearls or a pair of pants or a wig with curls or another chance. Everyone is just waiting. – Theodor Geisel

We must be willing to let go of the life we have planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us.  E M Forster

I have to keep reminding myself that I am their mother. Sometimes we are sitting at home and I feel like we are waiting for our mom to come home.  Ruby Wax

Me? ……. I’m just waiting for my tea …….

    I like Zoroaster’s work, especially all that ‘Thus Spoke-ing’ he’s credited with in 2001: A Sace Odyssey….

    daddyp replied:

Have you looked at Wiki’s page about him? ….. it’s extremely confused and all over the place …… so that’s all right then …..

    gitwizard replied:

Yep, sounds about right….I’m working on a very confusing DP Wiki page, I wonder if it will be accepted…..

    daddyp replied:

I’d love a Wiki page!!!! …. I’d do one myself but I’m VERY busy what with one thing and another ….. I wonder what’s on telly?

Oh goody – a post-ful of quotes. Wonder if I can steal them without being noticed. I do like the Terry Pratchett. Me? – I’m waiting for Godot.

    daddyp replied:

Blimey ….. that takes me back ….. I’m still yawning actually ….. and do steal them …. it’s a bit like pass the parcel I suppose …….

I’m waiting for my waistline to stop expanding. I’ll have another Kentish ale while I’m at it….

    daddyp replied:

That’ll work ….. [note to self - get some lettuce, broccoli and turnips in for Thursday ..... and hide the gingernuts!]

I think that time makes up it’s own mind how long it lasts ……. I reckon it’s more flexible than we give it credit for ……

A reading from the gospel of Wife:

    Wife 1:1

The tea arrives faster if you get it yourself.

    Aside from that…

I’m terrible at remembering the names of comedians. We have a television show where live shows from Montreal are taped and shown… and I never remember their names, just their faces. Some comic gets on stage and I’ll think, “I love that guy/gal” but never remember their name afterward. Makes it hard to search online for their quotes. I do love the pooh quotes though!

    daddyp replied:

I’m the same ….. can’t remember a thing ….. which is why I call things ‘thing’ most of the time.

Winnie the Pooh has been the greatest influence on my life [after the TG ........ obviously], closely followed by gingernuts and comfortable sofas ….

[Ooooo ...... you should do some Gospel of Wife quotes .... it could be VERY handy]

    daddyp replied:

PS – Thank you for all your lovely links – although I would like to say “I DID NOT BREAK THE INTERNET!!!!”

    fracas replied:

Okay, okay… I believe you. ;-) I am quite worried for them though, in 4 years, this has never happened. My AVG (Paid/Pro Version with regular updates) has been a rock at keeping guard and they will not, no how, let me access the FMB site, insisting it will harm my computer. I wonder if they’ve had someone malicious fossicking about?

    daddyp replied:

I lurve the word ‘fossick’ …….

    fracas replied:

I so shall!!!!!!!!!! (I’m sure you’ll agree one exclamation mark was simply not enough there…)

If your lovely goddess would like to contribute any, please do tell her I would love it if she would email me her wisdom. 45 years in, I’m sure she has bits that even I, at 27 years, could benefit from. I love to learn… might as well learn from the best!

    ;-)

    daddyp replied:

That might be another Gospel though ….. I suspect that there might be many more Gospels than 4 and probably quite long and drawn out …… oh dear

Been a googling too …….”I believe in love, but I don’t sit around waiting for it. I buy houses.”
    Renee Zellweger

Surely to goodness that must be a misprint…. she has to mean ‘I buy shoes’!!!

HUmPf!! Where did my comment go ??
I know it had something to do with waiting and shoes!!!!

    daddyp replied:

I have no idea why that got ’spammed’ – I didn’t even get an email telling me to check …… so I’m ‘humpffing’ too …… and not every goddess is obsessed with shoes BTW …….

    70steen replied:

No some want houses …. does that make me ‘cheap’?? {probably better you sit that Q out!} ;)

    daddyp replied:

    I’m sayin’ nubbin ….. de nada …… zilch ….. sweet FA ……. zip ……….. diddly-squat ……. naught …….

    gitwizard replied:

    Some are obsessed with cars……..

    daddyp replied:

I’d love to drink champagne out of that …. oh, that would be drinking and driving wouldn’t it? ….. tsk

Light travels faster than the quick thoughts that have to wait to be received by synapses. I heard this the other day in a video, but it didn’t come to me until just now.

    daddyp replied:

I think you’ve just proved something but haven’t necessarily come to a conclusion …..
