PROJECT DENNIS

Some people might have been following the birthing process of Project Dennis.

the ttop100.net

I am pleased to announce that the bump has burst and TheTop100.net is taking it’s first few breaths in the Interweave.

To get you started I strongly suggest you register and then go to this page, write a review and vote me up …….. oh, and if you’ve got the time, add some people to the list I started about people with moustaches – I got a little stuck after Hitler and Magnum [the TV actor, not the ice-cream].

Good luck to the team and like Topsy, I hope you grow ……….

Love the perfect match, so true!

    I could have tagged it Match.com I suppose …….

Brilliant list, DP.. I’m thinking of some good additions. Meanwhile, Dennis has added a few details… :-)

    daddyp replied:

I’m hoping some of the people who hang here will start hanging there as well ….. making up bizarre lists is fun ……. [don't work tooooo hard Dennis...... I mean Somnambulist]

    daddyp replied:

Blimey, you’ve added loads ….. AND piccies ….. brilliant ….. although I’m moving Borat down the list as quickly as possible ……. obviously ….

    Somnambulist replied:

Now there are more than 25 items on the list, you should ’submit’ it… I think The Twilight Zone might be most appropriate ;-)

    daddyp replied:

I tried to submit it ….. but it wouldn’t ….. I’ll have another go …… whoooooosh

    daddyp replied:

Yep …… the submit button won’t highlight ….. *scratches head*

    daddyp replied:

SUCCESS!!!!! ….. *has a little lie down*

Mmmm, when I first saw this I wasn’t sure about the entertainment value and whether I have time for even more net based distractions, but that pesky light bulb suddenly lit up above my head – can these lists be about anything ?

    Somnambulist replied:

Absolutely anything, gitwizard – from bizarre stuff (like moustaches) to interesting stuff (wine, artists – personal view there!) to popular stuff (films, etc.) to useful stuff – we use lots of lists to manage and assess our project tasks & milestones…

You can share your lists with everyone, or keep them private amongst friends or groups, add photos, youtube videos, audio files..

I’d best stop before this becomes a hijack – final thing, though, we’re working on a nice little widget so you can embed any Top 100 list in your website or blog, which might be interesting for your readers!

    gitwizard replied:

Oh dear, I can see this becoming another addiction…. did I mention my ‘Top100 ways of avoiding sleep’ ?

    daddyp replied:

Is sleep avoidance legal? …… it’s certainly illegal over here …….. *snooze*

    1. Cutting toenails badly so they catch on the sheets.
    2. Forgetting to put earmuffs on as a defence against one’s own snoring.
    3. Forgetting to plug the telephone in so it starts telling you it’s hungry at 3 o’clock in the morning …….. blimey …… that would make a brilliant and instructive list!

    Somnambulist replied:

    4. Moving in next to neighbours whose 50 megawatt security lights switch on automatically every time a gnat takes off. And lands. And takes off. And lands. And takes off… it’s like living next to a lighthouse.

    daddyp replied:

Someone start a list at the Top100.net now!!!!! – this is interweave treasure!!!!

    Lo,TG replied:

@ Somnam. Sorry, those are OUR neighbours – blackout blinds/curtains. Bliss.

I’d rush over and join this very minute, but my fingers are bleeding. Sheesh. You have a glass of wine (or three) and pop off a quick little “Top 5 things fracas doesn’t give a (blank) about” post and before you know it, Wordpress puts it on their main page and reminds you why all those famous people stop answering comments.

I will definitely sign up later, it looks promising!

It poured all day yesterday and the weekend is supposed to be nothing but rain here again, so if the veggie garden is to get finished, it will have to be today and tomorrow.

I see you’ve met your match. lol. She certainly is a lovely & slim thing, isn’t she?

    daddyp replied:

See …… you should blank verse again …… I hope you managed to reply to all those comments!!!

Re: Perfect Match. Where’s your potbelly and TG’s boobs?

    daddyp replied:

It’s a back view …… *pulls in stomach*

Done and done. I hope my review was okay. I get performance anxiety about that sort of thing.

Even though I registered, I have no idea how to access your moustache list or add to it. It doesn’t say much for my learning curve.

    kathcom replied:

Oops, just figured it out. There’s a little curve after all.

    daddyp replied:

You are very kind. It’s rather a complicated site at first inspection but it starts to make sense after a little rummaging …… and please don’t mention curves – it makes me go all unnecessary ……..

    Somnambulist replied:

Thanks for taking the time to rummage, DP & Kathcom. The design dept is working overtime in the background to make things a lot less complicated!

    daddyp replied:

I’ve tried to add to another person’s list, specifically ‘The Top 100 Film One-liners’, but the ‘add a new item’ button wouldn’t light up …. *scratches head again*

    Somnambulist replied:

OK, as briefly as possible here… :-)

The Top 100 Film One-liners is a ‘global’ list. This means you need a little more experience before you can add items to it.

You are currently voter rank: Rookie Voter – you need to get one more level to Amateur Voter. To find out exactly what you need to do (it’s not much) go to My Top 100 > My Activity. You need to fill up all the little bars :-)

Lastly, if you find that any button is disabled, hover the mouse pointer over it, and it should tell you why.

(hope that wasn’t too much info in one go!)

    daddyp replied:

I’m always being told to get more experience …… I haven’t got that much time left you know …. [thanks - very handy]

Thanks for the reminder … must respond to Somns request … whoosh …

    daddyp replied:

I’ve got two lists now *preens*

    Somnambulist replied:

Jolly good lists they are too DP :-)
