I don’t like smug people either. Or the word. If you reverse it, its gums. Rountrees are quite nice though I prefer Maynard’s myself. Arrogant is another of my pet hates. Or those who think they know it all. I am not aware of any indiscretion by the Nicholas Cage. Mind you, I’m not aware of anything at the moment, its only 6.46am.
I do have a fault myself ….. I’m far too modest. Is it too early for a wine gum?
No of course not! I too have a fault, I’ve a lousy memory. (see latest post.)
A wine gum? You mean the rubbery jellyishy candy? Like Maynards? I loooooooooove those!
However… if you’re talking about drinking wine when one has only gums… then I’m afraid I’ve not got nearly the experience you have with that.
:chuckles:
That comment sucks …… teeth hee
He speaks very highly of you. When he’s not too busy helping orphans and abandoned puppies…
Even more reasons to remove him from my Christmas card list ….. ooooo, has yours arrived yet?
I think he looks a bit like you. From the side…
He’s out at the moment but when he sees this he’ll be very upset.
I wouldn’t dispute he’s a fine looking fella ……from the side
Teen refuses to watch any film with ’smug chap ‘ in it…..
[not read CCM yet ….. )
Obviously the teen has been VERY well brought up ….. what went wrong? ….. tee hee
[The first chapter stops a lot of people reading further .... it soon turns into something special though .....]
Agree about CCM, he was totally miscast, Pelagia choosing Nicholas Cage over hunky Christian Bale *swoons for a moment* is just ridiculous. If you can manage to ignore NC and his comedy Italians (hard I admit) it would be an OK film but still not a patch on L de B’s brilliant book. I enjoyed ‘Birds without Wings’ too.
PS Penelope Cruz can’t run for toffee and in a film where she spends an inordinate amount of time running – from bombs, earthquakes, after people – she looks daft most of the film. Maybe it was the espadrilles….
I know we’ve had this discussion before ….. and I’m still in full agreement with you ….. my goodness what fantastic taste, brain power and insight!!!
I thought it sounded familiar, thought it was a touch of déjà-vu.
Haven’t you said that before …….
He was good in Wild At Heart. Any only mildly smuggish.
Have you noticed that smug is gums backwards?
Doog dog!!! Technogran pointed that out before she’d even woken up …….
Yes how lax of you Somnambulist. Your only excuse can be that your more three sheets to the wind than I am, and that will take some doing.
At 10:15 am!!!!!! ……. tsk tsk and double tsk ….. 3:17 pm is bad enough
Haven’t seen CCM but have heard lots of good reviews of the book, must get round to it soon.
I thought Mr. Cage was excellent in ‘Wild at Heart’ and he was quite good in the brilliant ‘Rumble Fish’, haven’t noticed the smugness (do I need a TV to spot this?)
There have been a couple of films he was ‘OK’ in …. unfortunately I think he’s turned into a chap who can examine himself for piles ……
I used to really like him… until I found him a tad bit.. “meh-fied”
‘Raising Arizona’ was good – mind you that was the Coen brothers ….. I like them ……
Raising Arizona is the only film i could stand to watch him in… if spotted on my television while surfing? he is met with a scream, a thrown object, and a quick channel change. smug, liver-lipped emo boy. blechh…
I soooooo wish I had your way with words young Daisy …….
I was going to make a comment about Smugness (it is, I believe a town on the coast) but then I began feeding Gertrude. He is starving! We need a prehistoric Goddess to take the time to feed him. Lo, TG has far too much else to do.
You know everything Archie; I’m EXTREMELY busy. I’ve got all my new office furniture to polish.
So flatpack Hell has been and gone. Is himself recovering with a gingernut and a glass of ale?
As it happens I’ve just opened some alcoholic ginger beer!!!!! a new discovery that I’m investigating thoroughly ……… soon I’ll be flat on my back and probably told to pack ….. *hic*
Oh God, I read all this and I still have no idea what movie or book Cage has ruined. Haven’t read or seen either, our lives are woefully un-movied I’m afraid. I know, I know, netflicks, theatres whatever.
I’m also trying to understand what is funny about the match of the day. Since I just spent the last two days trying to get rid of the approximately 25,000 seed ticks on my dog and finally had to give her a protracted bath in flea/tick shampoo, which revealed that somewhere in my sewer line (I almost spelled that swear line)(appropriate though) is a massive clog that allows certain amounts of water to go through but if you run the water too long after you have also done a load of laundry you are so screwed, I guess my sense of humor is down the drain somewhere.
Think I’ll go have a nip of something. No not the 25 yr old single malt, Jim would not forgive me for nipping on that without him being present to nip along with me. I was thinking more along the lines of everclear or vodka.
Match of the Day is a week long slow burner – tee hee. The denouement is tomorrow ….. you’ll be very disappointed I’m afraid …..
After the time you’ve been having you deserve a snifter ……. or two ….. *cheers*
Ya know, if I was getting several million dollars to make a film, I’d be smug too.
…… but you musn’t ever look smug of course ….. that would never do ……..
I like the word “smuk”
So do I ….. which is just as well as I hear it often enough ……..
Lovely post you have here.
I also happen to know right now… that kathcom (Magick Sandwich) also has a post up.
…but that’s just because I’m such an efficient (or perhaps lazy-internet-surfing-instead-of-working) kind of fracretary.
Oh lol…
The post had read as below… only replace the [ with a and you'll see how witty I was. I didn't expect it to strip the fake html out, since it was after all, fake. (As far as I know, there is no actual / Nicholas Cage command.)

I swear… I learn something new every time I visit here!
I’m very glad I’m not as clever as you …. all that html nonsense ….. html isn’t even a proper word.
I can offer some advice though – Knickerless girls shouldn’t climb trees ……
