A FISHY TAIL

A certain visitor sees mermaids wherever he goes. Here; in the desert; absolutely everywhere ……….

……. let’s play along with him …… he doesn’t get out much.

Here are two poems for him.

Ode to a mermaid

There’s at least one advantage it seems to me
Of being a mermaid, and that’s housemaid’s knee.
Although danger lurks of being de-scaled
When scrubbing a floor that’s poorly nailed.

A curmudgeons lament

There is a chap from way down under
Who takes piccies when it thunders,
While from others oft’ he plunders.
Visit him and gasp with wonder.

    daddyp replied:

I think I would recognise him – he’s quite hairy ….. and carries a fishing rod around – tee hee

    archiearchive replied:

    That’s no fishing rod. That’s a – a – microphone boom – yes. A microphone boom.

    archiearchive replied:

Hey! Enough of this “Good” stuff. Are you trying to ruin my reputation?

    daddyp replied:

    It’s under a bushel ……. obviously ….. and the boom …..

    daddyp replied:

I’ve heard that Archie has been hassling his local fancy-dress hire emporium to get him a ‘Flipper’ costume, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flipper_(1964_TV_series) ‘cos he’s been told that mermaids are dolphin friendly………..

    daddyp replied:

….. over friendly I heard …… the minxes!!!

    archiearchive replied:

I’ve got the schnozz, now I just need the flippers – - -

    I’m currently completely ungirled
And fear for the state of my world
    There isn’t a mate
    Who’ll nibble my bait
And mermaids all keep their tails furled.

    [sob]

    daddyp replied:

OK, you’re trying way too hard for the sympathy vote now …….. tee hee

I have a mermaid poem hanging around too as it happens and it’s probably too earnest for the discussion but that splendid picture has moved me to stick it up anyway at the bottom of my poems page

It’s a bit literately naughty, at least, so if that helps Archie out there in the desert…

It’s the gospel truth, to the extent I can trace myself to any known family patent of arms, the crest is a mermaid combing her hair over the motto “Always Ready.”

    daddyp replied:

I like it Sledpress ….. I hope Archie visits, it’s sure to help him though with your patent of arms he might start falling into the category of stalker ……

    archiearchive replied:

I visited and was most impressed.

    sledpress replied:

Thank you both. Archie, it was reading your poems that made me want to put mine up. (Why is it not surprising that the sunset poem was the one that had the vividest energy?)

Does King Triton know they are at the surface?

    daddyp replied:

Hello Jamie …… as you well know goddesses both on land and in the waters have minds of their own ….. whether King Triton knows or not will make little difference ……. ooooo, I can hear a siren! …… whooooosh
